Ian Smyth has been writing music for film, television and commercials since 1999. Collaborating with Creatives, Directors and Producers from national and international agencies, scoring music for their leading brands. Liberty Insurance ‘Manifesto’ was short listed at the Kinsale Shark Awards in the category of Best Music. Other commercial works include TV adverts Magners, National Lottery, Lyons Tea, Club Orange, Brennan’s Bread, Lucozade, Irish Life and Texaco.
He has just completed Mulbury Project’, a sci-fi horror film set in the near future. The film has been produced by Northern Ireland’s Heaven’s Gate Films. His debut Rewind, (2011) directed by PJ Dillon and winner of two IFTA Awards was very well received. His short film portfolio includes scores for ‘Man on Fire’, ‘The Anarchic Hand Affair’ and Ian Power’s award winning ‘The Wonderful Story of Kelvin Kind’. Among television credits are Seacht, which was the first Irish language Drama for BBC.
Graduating form Berklee College of Music Film Score and Composition department, he continues to study piano at the RIAM and perform drums live.
